I love almonds in almost every form. I wasn’t really hungry, but smoked almonds are awesome. However, I recognize that not everyone shares my love of this nut (yes, I know they are not technically nuts). You know those weeks when you just can't seem to get it together? You could also get a little crazy and use a flavored simple syrup or an alternative chiffon cake flavor. You get started then realize you're out of a certain ingredient. If the filling is too soft, chill slightly in the refrigerator and then mix again until it is the proper consistency. Another big plus is that they can be served right out of the refrigerator. Place the pan back in the refrigerator for 1 hour, or until the glaze hardens. Spread the filling evenly across the top of the brownie layer and place the pan in the refrigerator, for a minimum of 45 minutes, while you make the chocolate glaze.
